Does your home need a facelift? Whether your interior is dated or you just want to increase your home’s beauty and value, hardwood flooring could offer just what you’re looking for. If you’ve been shopping around for flooring, Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring may be a brand that’s on your list.

Since 1992, Hurst Hardwoods has been a wholesaler of top brands in hardwood flooring. Hurst Hardwoods also has its own line of engineered hardwood flooring. Compared to other brands on the market, how does Hurst’s own line match up?

In this post, we’re going to take a look at the pros and cons of Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring. Before pulling out your wallet, read on to learn more about this flooring. Find out whether it’s the right choice for you!

Is Hurst Hardwoods Hardwood Flooring Affordable?

One of the most common questions consumers have when searching for new flooring is, “How much does it cost?” After all, most of us set a budget before we begin, so costs don’t get out of control. So, is Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring a good choice for the budget-conscious consumer?

Let’s first evaluate the cost of hardwood flooring in general. Remember, these are just estimates. The brand, wood species, and other factors could affect the pricing of the flooring product you purchase.

On the low end, hardwood flooring costs around $3 to $6 per square foot. This is for softer woods that are more easily damaged. So this should be kept in mind if you’re looking to save a few dollars. Mid-priced flooring like cherry or oak costs anywhere from $5 to $10 per square foot on average.

High-end exotic species may cost $8 to $14 or more per square foot. This is for flooring like Brazilian walnut, mahogany, and other woods. These not only look great but are very durable.

Fortunately, Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring have prices on the lower end. Expect to pay around $4 to $8 per square foot depending on the flooring that you purchase.

For example, Hurst’s Brazilian Walnut is on the higher end. Engineered domestic flooring like hickory is much less expensive.

Can I Install Hurst Hardwoods Myself?

In addition to the price of the flooring itself, another big cost to consider is the cost of installation. Just like the cost of materials varies, so does the cost of installation based on factors such as where you’re located, the contractor you select, and the size of the job.

Expect to pay around $5 to $8 per square foot for installation of your hardwood flooring. However, you may be able to save quite a bit of money by tackling the job yourself. Be aware, however, that you need the right tools for the job, as well as plenty of time to ensure the installation is completed properly.

It’s completely possible for the average homeowner with no prior floor installation experience to install Hurst Hardwoods flooring. However, it’s important that you go through the proper steps, including prepping your subfloor, accurately measuring each plank, and buying the right glue or nails for the job, if applicable.

You’ll also need to invest in additional materials and tools, including a saw, measuring tape, underlayment, and trim pieces.

Be aware, however, that improper installation can ruin your flooring and even void your warranty. If, after watching online tutorials and carefully reading over any instructions, you have any doubt about making this a DIY project, contact a professional.

Hurst Hardwoods offers installation services in West Central Florida, or recommends finding an installer through the National Wood Flooring Association’s Certified Professional Installer network.

How Do I Care For This Flooring?

Who wants to spend hours cleaning and maintaining floors? With Hurst Hardwoods, care and maintenance isn’t too difficult, but there are a few words of caution to heed to make sure you get the most life out of your new floors.

The most important thing to remember is to keep water away from your new hardwoods, which means that you should avoid damp mopping. Also avoid using steam mops, which can cause floors to warp or buckle.

Regular hardwood floor cleaning can be performed using a vacuum designed for hard floor use. If you don’t own one of these vacuums and don’t want to invest in one, sweeping with a broom or dust mop on a regular basis can remove dirt, dust, and debris.

For heavy-duty cleaning, Hurst Hardwoods recommends using Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner. Never saturate your floors with this cleaner, though. Instead, lightly spray some sections with a spray bottle and use a microfiber pad to clean your floors without scratching or ruining the finish.

You should avoid using soaps or cleaning products that contain wax, which could cause a buildup that dulls the surface of your floor. You should also use floor protectors and furniture coasters to prevent scratches and dents from damaging your investment.

    Is This Flooring Durable?

Hurst Hardwoods brand hardwood flooring is very durable, according to consumers who have purchased and put these products into use. With proper care, you should expect to get many decades of usage out of your new floors.

However, Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring is subject to the same type of damage as other hardwood flooring. This includes warping, buckling, or staining if exposed to water, scratches that may occur from foot traffic or pets, and fading when exposed to excessive amounts of natural light.

Your floors should never be installed in a room with high levels of moisture and humidity. Doing so could cause irreparable damage to your flooring.

Hurst Hardwoods does offer a limited residential warranty on its flooring products. All prefinished and unfinished hardwood flooring is protected against manufacturer’s defects. Flooring with factory-applied aluminum oxide surfaces are guaranteed to not wear through for 30 years if proper installation, care, and maintenance is performed.

Is There A Color & Style That Works For Me?

One of the best things about Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring is that there are plenty of styles and colors to choose from. No matter what type of hardwood you’re seeking, you’re likely to find something from this brand that will work for you.

You can choose from many different species including prefinished engineered domestics, prefinished engineered exotics, prefinished solid exotics, French Oak and hickory hand scraped flooring. You’ll have a wide selection of styles and colors that range from light to dark and everything in between.

    Final Verdict

Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring offers a lot of bang for its buck and holds up to other top brands in the industry. This durable flooring comes in many styles and colors to complement any space, is available in many different species of wood at a variety of price points, and can easily add beauty to your home for many years.

If you’re looking to install this flooring in a bathroom, basement, or other below-grade room or room with high moisture or humidity, consider purchasing another flooring type, such as wood-look ceramic tile.

Care and maintenance of these floors isn’t too difficult, although you will need to take a few precautions to get the most out of your floors. This is pretty standard as far as hardwood flooring goes.

Installation may also be a difficult task if you choose to take on the project yourself. However, people can say the same of other brands of hardwood flooring. All in all, Hurst Hardwoods hardwood flooring offers competitively-priced products that look great and perform well.

    1. I can attest to the Hurst quality and value. In my experience, you’re basically getting a premium flooring option for a mid to low level price.

        1. They have their own brand and will not honor any warranty on it. The flooring looks good but then the manufacturing defects emerge and show up as “checking”. They will blame installation….improper handling…humidity control…..anything but them. STAY FAR AWAY!!
